GGT GUIDE TO RUBY COLOR
“Pigeon’s blood red” is a vivid red color (high saturation), with medium to medium-deep tone. A minute purplish tint is acceptable. Rubies exhibit medium to strong fluorescence when exposed to UV light.
TRANSPARENT RHODONITE WITH UNUSUAL INCLUSIONS
Most Rhodonite seen in the trade are translucent to opaque pink, often with black veins or spots. Many are fashioned into beads and cabochons. However, transparent Rhodonite is also found in some localities.
INTERESTING INCLUSIONS IN QUARTZ CRYSTAL
The quartz crystal from Himalaya Mountain in Pakistan-Afghanistan area contains many yellow fluid filled pockets with free moving gas bubble inside.
JADEITE CLASSIFICATION AND IDENTIFICATION
To classify jadeite type, advanced instrument – FTIR spectrometer is required. As a polymer is an organic compound that FTIR is able to detect.
NATURAL POLLUCITE
Testing with standard instruments solely would not be easy to separate between pollucite and glass. Using FTIR spectroscopy can provide important information to verify the sample.
